Stand by Me (1986)

Just now saw the movie by Rob Steiner and was compelled to write about it. There are some movies which keeps you bind to your seat while your watching it and there are some which keeps you bound even after they are finished. Stand by Me definately belongs to the 2nd category. There goes another addition to my favourite movies list.

A great movie and surely deserves 8.1 (165/250).

Next Watch: The Princess Bride. Thats right !! Rob Steiner it is :)

Bought a Lappy !!!

I bought HP Pavilion DV2519 on 26th Aug and loving it. It has Intel core 2 duo processor (1.5 GHz), intel 965 GM chipset (667MHz FSB), 2 MB L2 cache, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, finger print reader, 1.3 MP webcam and other usual stuff that now a days every laptop has. And all this for just 51,000 INR (did I just sounded like some NRI??). Can you believe it?? I know you can't. But believe me, I haven't been robbed. Thats the cheapest I could get.

This lappy qualifies me as a perfect blogger which by definition is "Someone who has laptop, an internet connection and virginity" (I read this on some enlightening blog). Some people might not agree with the last part but then people didn't agree with Galileo either when he suggested earth was round. Anyway, now that I have lappy, I will try to post as frequently as I think of something to post on (Yeah, you have been deprived of some really good posts in the pasts).

GRE is boring

GRE is pain in you-know-where.
Barron`s is useless piece of you-know-what.
I strongly suggest using SAT crash course for gre preparation for indolent people like you-know-who.

Just in case you are wondering-
you-know-where = life; you-know-what = paper

What did you think?

time travel !!

Yesterday I was thinking of good old BITSian days and got very nostalgic. Then I thought if at all possible, I would give ANYTHING to be there back in time (probably that "ANYTHING" was there because I know its not possible :P). Then a weird thought occurred to me.

Generally in movies when a person goes back in time, he exists there with his own self at that time. But what if, when you go back in time, you replace your other self with your present self. In that case everything will go the same way it went till the day you commenced time travel and then you again go back in time (cause you cant change natures course of action). Now you have entered in an infinite loop where you are repeating same set of actions over same period of time again and again until I don't know when.

This thought really scared the hell out of me and I immediately gave up the idea of going back in time. This really helped me get out of the nostalgia though.

Dance like a child !!

I came across this very good article in sunday times (10/9/06) and was looking for its e-copy today. Here is the link. I generally dont read that column in sunday times but did it this time since I had nothing else to do and had read rest of "more interesting" stuff already. The article is about ways to make your life more joyful.

As I went through that article, I got a feeling that the people who need to follow the advice in it may not actually appreciate it as much those who already have lot of joy in their life (me for example :D). Thats how ironic life is. We find a similar case where literate people or NGOs are trying to teach illiterates. They know this is going help those under-privillaged people and they try their best. But it turns out that the most difficult job for them is not to teach illiterates but to make them ready to study.

What I am trying to say here is - we might not always know what is good for us and even if we think we know it, it may not actually be the best thing for us. So however mature and independent we think we, there is always need of a friend who can look things from different perspective and tell you - "Hey!! you need a haircut. Badly."

My first full-fledged published post !!

How should I start?? maybe with "Finally i managed to get a blog account.." or maybe "So finally here I am writing my first blog..". I am not sure which one, but it has to be one of these.. afterall thats what you find as first post on any blog. Ok let me not bore you with all this. This is not my first post anyway. I am sure you have had a laugh already on my stupid first post.

Technically that wasnt my first post either. I had drafted a post about Greek-Italian Party at INSEAD but was too lazy to finish it. Anyway you may never get a chance to read that one. So assume this to be my first full-fledged, filled with cliches and PJs post and you can expect more such posts in future. I will try to post as regularly as I can and you are welcome to read my blog.
